Technology & Communications

The Department of Technology and Communications was established in 2026, consolidating three divisions across the organization in Information Technology (IT), Communications and Marketing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The department is budgeted within the IT Fund, established in 2023 as an internal service fund, centralizing the City’s technology operations, lifecycle upgrades, replacements, and software, with allocated costs across all departments for shared services. In 2024, the City further strengthened standardization and fiscal stewardship by centralizing city-wide software purchases within the IT Fund. This reorganization aligns the City’s technology, data, and communication functions to improve service delivery, strengthen cybersecurity and data governance, and enhance public engagement. By unifying IT, GIS, and Communications and Marketing, the City is better positioned to advance enterprise software and data initiatives, modernize infrastructure, and deliver consistent, resident-focused communications and services.
