About the Move MHK! Parks & Recreation Master Plan

On June 18, 2024, the City Commission officially approved and adopted the Move MHK! Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which was more than a year in the making.

This is a 20-year strategic plan for the Parks and Recreation Department, which intends to have annual updates and periodic surveys to ensure the plan is still meeting the desired needs of the community and the department is relevant with current trends.

Move MHK! includes analysis and recommendations regarding park inventory, programs, aquatics, operations, and staffing. Move MHK! outlines four main goals in its action plan:

Move MHK Goals 1 Through 4
  • Enhance the level of quality in parks
  • Focus on quality improvements that consider future needs and growth
  • Enhance the delivery of programs and services
  • Enhance operational efficiency and financial health of the department
