Guest Guidelines

No Smoking

The FHDC is a smoke-free environment. Pursuant to these guidelines and City ordinance, smoking is not permitted inside the FHDC or within 20 feet of an entrance to the building. Any person who is smoking, utilizing e-cigarettes or vapor are prohibited and will be asked to immediately cease and/or to leave the premises. In addition to, or in lieu of such action(s), the person may be prosecuted for a violation of the applicable city ordinance.

Animals on Premises

No person shall possess or bring an animal into the FHDC premises. Except that, any person can bring or possess a service animal on the FHDC premises, compliant with ADA requirements and state and federal laws. If the service animal is out of control or is not housebroken, it must be removed from the premises. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under federal ADA regulations and will not be allowed on FHDC premises.

No Alcohol or Illegal Drugs

Illegal drugs are prohibited. Alcohol is only permitted in conjunction with private event rentals or FHDC approved events.

Food & Beverages

No food is permitted in the exhibition areas except in conjunction with private event rentals or FHDC- approved events. Beverages with a closable screw top are permitted in exhibition areas unless otherwise marked with no food or beverage signs.

Appropriate Attire & Behavior

All persons must wear shirts and shoes at all times within the FHDC. Swimsuits shall not be worn except with clothes for cover-up. Clothing must be dry before entering into the exhibits. Any guest who acts in a way that harms themselves, other individuals, or the FHDC property may be asked to leave the building. Any inappropriate behavior including fighting, harassment, provoking confrontations, disruptive conduct, or damaging property may result in law enforcement intervention. Children under the age of 12 must have adult supervision.

Photography and Video

Visitors may take photos and videos for personal, non-commercial use only unless an area is posted as "no photography." A handheld camera may be used with available light or attached flash, but tripods, lighting or other equipment may not be used during public hours. No flash photography permitted in Immersive Theater. The FHDC is not responsible for any person's copyright, trademark or other violation resulting from photography or video taken in FHDC.

The FHDC may photograph or film visitors for standard museum educational, promotional and news-related purposes. Visitation is implied consent for the FHDC and City of Manhattan's use of visitor's likeness, voice.

Solicitation

Solicitation by outside groups or distribution of flyers of any sort is not permitted at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.
